Leadership workshop series for Local government representatives

Local government authorities’ public representatives are one of the important pillar of public representation and decision making body of Sri Lanka Governance system. it is really vital to have deep knowledge on Subject areas like Local governance, democracy and representative democracy and Electoral system in Sri Lanka, Community development and Leadership.

LYON wants to create proper functioning Local authority module in Sri Lanka and create handbook for the local government representatives’ duties and responsibilities.

 With this objective LYON has designed a workshop series to create awareness on above mention subject areas within the Local government authorities’ representatives as well as the responsible government officials and other interested parties in divisional. we are planning to organize 50 workshops covering all the district in Sri Lanka within one year.

As result of that LYON organized first workshop in lunugamwehera on 27th July with the participation of Local government representatives and other relevant officials and interested public. Behalf of the resource pool, Mr. Mohan Samaranayaka , Dr. Damma Dissanayake, Dr. Sagara Chandrasekara, Mr. Aruna Kumara conducted the program.  Almost 50 participants were participated including 40% of Women representation.
